The Jean Marc Millot domaine has relatively recent origins. Founded in 1982 by Jean Marc in Nuits-Saint-Georges, it is now one of the largest family estates in the Côte de Nuits, with 8 hectares of property across Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Côtes de Nuits Villages, and Vosne-Romanée.
Since 2014, Jean Marc has been joined by his daughter Alix, who took over the estate’s winemaking leadership just two years later, managing it entirely. In the vineyard, the approach is organic, while fermentations in the cellar are spontaneous. Alix understands that each vintage is unique and that most of the work happens in the vineyard. Her role is to allow the grapes to reveal themselves.
Thanks to continuous exchanges of ideas and frequent tastings with fellow producers, Alix has refined her technique with a clear goal: straightforward wines that tell the story of the land with great immediate pleasure in the simpler appellations, where new and used oak alternate, and wines with a strong character that express themselves best after decades. An example is the Grands- Echézeaux, which is aged entirely in new barriques.
