Thibaud Clerget: the revival of Domaine Y. Clerget, between millennial history and contemporary vision

Go to website

Founded in 1268 with 6 hectares, Domaine Y. Clerget has very ancient origins dating back to when the Clerget family settled in the village of Volnay. This domaine tells the story of knowledge passed down from father to son through 28 generations.

Two major turning points for the estate occurred when, in 1983, Yvon took over and changed the winery’s name to Domaine Yvon Clerget, and later when his son Thibaud, after years of training across France and around the world, took the reins of the domaine in 2015.

Since Thibaud’s arrival, the domaine has not only transformed its appearance but also changed its destiny. Thibaud’s approach is increasingly spoken of as the “revival” of Domaine Y. Clerget, and he is definitely one of those young talents who will make a name for himself.

In July 2022, Thibaud Clerget wrote another chapter by acquiring an additional 4 hectares of vineyard, expanding the estate to its current 10 hectares.

The vineyard management is modern and forward-looking. The young Clerget is not afraid to experiment with new techniques. What he aims to do is interpret each vintage by fully respecting and preserving its integrity.
